Saturday Share: Spread your wings class

Today I had the great pleasure in getting to TAKE a class! I love getting to take classes...it's a schedule play date where I get to enjoy doing and not talking the entire time! :)

I signed up to be part of an online class taught by Karen from Big Sky Fiber Arts. Karen is a fantastic artist and good friend of mine, and it was so much fun getting to make this incredible project. I still have some shading to do, but I'm loving how it is turning out!

And if you need some stress relief you should seriously take up needle felting....soooooooo goood to sit and paint with fibers as you get to stab stab stab!  LOL

Interested? Check out some more of the classes she has coming up!  Next week we're starting a two part class we're actually teaching together called (appropriately) Double Trouble!

Product Review: Famore 45mm Professional Tungsten Carbide Rotary Blade

Here is a new cutting blade for my rotary cutter made by Famore (pronounced like you're singing the song "that's Amore". I first heard about this blade when I happened to watch a short video about a blade that was tougher and sharper your ordinary blade (which can 'faint' pretty quickly when you're going through as many layers of fabrics, fusibles and other textiles like I do every day). This blade is made out of Tungsten Carbide gives it Rockwell hardness of 75+ (which means it not only cuts fabric cleanly for a longer time than the other market blades out there, it can also cut Leather, EVA Foam, Vinyl, Faux Fur and Composite Materials easily too!)

I had the chance to meet (remotely) Brint from Famore when as luck would have it, his company was sponsoring one of my online classes through The Original Sewing Expo. We quickly hit it off and I LOVE how passionate he is about his company, his products and about those of us using his products as well.

When I expressed my interest and excitement about his new blades he wasted no time in offering to send me one to try out!

It fit my normal cutter with no issue and it is lovely and sharp and has stayed that way as I try to cut through everything I can think of (within reason of course!) But for me, the thing I'm most inspired by, is that they have a sharpening system that allows you to send the blade back to the company when it gets dull and they will make it sharp again and return it to you! I hate creating waste...and getting rid of old cutter blades is difficult to do so safely, so this service really thrills me! Buy two blades and then just alternate them between in use and out for sharpening!

Because I'm also willing to be tester on a number of their other products, Brint and the good folks at Famore have created a discount code for my peeps to use if you want to try out any of the items that they carry (not just the ones that I'm chirping about).

Visit their site and use the coupon code LADYBUG when you check out and you'll get 15% off!
(and let me know what you think!)

Saturday Share: Woven together

I have the pleasure of teaching another online class today with the great folks at The Original Sewing Expo. We are doing weaving of fabrics again, this time in a half circle pattern to create a fun sky and landscape project.  As I'm getting ready to show some work at an exhibit in Polson at the Sandpiper Art Gallery this March, I had an idea of a piece I wanted to create a new circle weave to home a little 3D dragonfly that I've been playing with. I'm happy that it came together before class today as now I can share it with my students who (if they are like me and have fun with this technique) can see different directions it can lead.

But even if you're not in class today you can still enjoying seeing the piece! Or if you happen to be in Polson during the months of March-May you can see it in person!
