Quilting Aroung the Block Week 50: Montana

"A River Runs Through It"

I was born and raised in this gorgeous state and there are many things it holds that are near and dear to my heart. 

The landscapes vary from incredible peaks of massive mountains, to dense lush forests to wide open plains where you can watch a huge thunderstorm pass by while still getting a sunburn where you're standing. 

No matter what the landscape, however, you are never too far from a beautiful river. 

The Clark Fork River is over 300 miles long and also flows in Idaho. It's the largest (by volume) in the state. 

We also have the longest river in America: the mighty Missouri which starts here in Montana and travels for over 2000 miles before entering the Mississippi river. 

The Yellowstone River is the longest undammed river in the lower 48, traveling through both Wyoming and North Dakota too. 

And in my neck of the woods we have the beautiful Flathead river. Ideal for fly fishing and including some of the most breath taking scenery around. It begins in the Canadian Rockies and flows through Glacier National Park, arriving at Flathead Lake (the largest natural lake this side of the Mississippi!) before it continues on and connects with the Clark Fork. 

For Montana's block I decided to include some of our cherished landscape as well as river to flow through. Feel free to include the rider in the scene or just enjoy the view on it's own.
